Poly Play 2019: Submissions Due Jan. 30!

OPEN TO GAMERS, 3D ANIMATORS, VR ARTISTS, AND OTHER NEW MEDIA-BASED ART

Poly Play is SAIC’s annual experimental arcade gallery held by ExTV in the middle of the spring semester. We have seen in recent years, the swift emergence of technology within the art world without much time to reflect on the purpose of the medium itself specifically in relation to its inherent necessitation of direct audience engagement. Unlike other forms of time-based media art, such as performance events or film screenings, video games have yet to define its objective within the context of art galleries. We showcase and welcome new games made by students (present or graduated) exploring the new media world.

In the past, we have mainly exhibited computer-operated games, along with a performance and few experimental art games (including a magnet-based one)! In our fourth running year, we wanted to open our submission call to not only our art gamers, but 3D animators, virtual reality creators, and digital media artists as well in order to celebrate the intersection of technology and art in one collaborative space. Interested? You can look at our FAQs and submit to our Google Form here, or go to our SUBMIT tab > Submit to Poly Play 2019!
